Mystic Monday's

Merry Christmas All!  Happy Yule!
During this time let’s take just a moment to bow our heads to ask the angles to help those affected by the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

We have a lot happening this week. December 21st is Yule/Winter Solstices and of course Christmas.
Now I do not consider myself Wiccan nor do I consider myself 100 percent Christian anymore. I do keep to the old ways as far as knowing that old ways Holiday energy can affect me as well as the moon phases. With that knowledge I do special “rituals or prayer time” on those days. Yule is one of those times. So, here is a little of what I know of Yule/Winter Solstice.
Yule/Winter Solstice
December 21st is Winter Solstice/Yule.
Winter Solstice makes the shortest day of the year. For those of us living up north we can begin to look forward to the longer days. For those of us that are Wiccan or choose not to call ourselves Wiccan but practice the old ways in some form, Winter Solstice is a time to leave behind what does not serve our highest good and keep what will help us through the new year. This is a time for reflecting on the past year and what we have learned.

Yule is a Celtic Celebration of Winter Solstice. It is a time for relaxation, friends and feasting. This is a time to celebrate the return of the sun. Yule is also the time for rebirth and renewal. It is tradition to bring in a Yule log into the home for midwinter celebrations. A small part of the log would be burned for 12 days of Yule and at the end the stump would be saved to light the next year’s Yule log.

Traditions of wreaths of Holly, a symbol of the wheel of the year. There are many more Christmas traditions that are pagan traditions that were blended with Christian ways to help the people to convert to Christianity. Now I’m not going to get into all of that here but it is interesting to research. (ex: Christmas Tree, Mistletoe)
Now Christmas day starts the 12 days of Christmas which ends January 5th or 6th depending on which calendar you look at. During these 12 days the veil between the worlds is thin again just like it is a Halloween. So communication between this world and the other side is easier. I am not sure as to why the veil between worlds thins again but it does. Haunted sights report more activity during this time and well those of us that are sensitive experience more stuff going on around us.
Remember to protect your home from that which is not for your highest good and only allow your guides or crossed over family members to come through. Usually I tell the guides and angels let only that energy that is for my highest good to enter my space.
January 5th being 12th night is the last day that decorations should be hung. If they are not taken down by 12th night it is bad luck for the New Year. Other things I found out about the 12 days of Christmas was that it was a time that the three wise men traveled to see the baby Jesus and  the 12th day was the baptism of Jesus.

Mystic Monday will return after the holidays. Until then I wish you all a very happy Yule season and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Blessings All,
Wendy
