Hi All,

This week I had a question about Spirit Guides so we will tackle the subject about Spirit Guides. When I speak of spirit guides, I often refer to them as guides, so just know that guides = spirit guides.

What is a Spirit Guide?

A spirit guide is a soul from the other-side that you have contracted with who will help keep you on the path of your Life Contract. Your spirit guide will help you learn the lessons you’ve written in your Life Contract to help you evolve. Many times guides will have similar lessons as you to learn and will chose to help you through them rather than incarnate into a life themselves

Who are your Spirit Guides?

Guides can be a number of souls you know from the other-side. Most often guides are from your soul group although they don’t have to be. A guide can be a soul you are friends with on the other-side. A soul group is all the souls you are connected to and contract with to learn your life contract lessons. Your family and close loved ones are part of this soul group. Souls you’ve had past lives with are also part of this soul group.

Guides then can be anyone connected to you through this vast soul group you are in. Most often a guide is someone you have shared a past live with. Your guides will always work with you for your highest good. They love you unconditionally.

How many guides can someone have?

Well, many. I know this sounds like a cop out answer, but it’s true. You have a protector guide, a guide that can be in charge of your health, I’ve seen a guide who is in charge of money and finances, a guide to help get you started with your education with the other-side and then one that takes over as your education grows, and many more.

How do you meet these guides?

Through meditation you can set your intent to meet your guides. However, make sure you ask them questions to build a relationship with them. They will expect to be tested. You can verify the information with tools such as a pendulum and past life regression meditations.

Think of it this way. Your guides are people you haven’t known for a while. You haven’t talked in a long time. You are meeting them again for the first time in a long time. You need to build a trust with them. You wouldn’t take the word of someone you don’t know off the street, so why would you jump into a trust relationship with a guide right away. They will expect you to build trust with them and they will not be offended at any question you ask.

When I learned who my guides were it was hard because I didn’t have a lot of like- minded friends to help me figure out what I was doing. My Reiki Master basically attuned me and sent me on my way with “your guides will teach you as you go” as my parting bit of knowledge.

So what did I do? I bought a book to help me with a mediation to meet my guides. The first I met taught me about the how to’s of contacting guides and talked in general about things like meditation and answer questions I’d have about my life in general. Then I did a meditation where I asked to meet my guide who worked close with me to help keep me safe. I got the image of a big warrior and a name. When I did the same meditation the next night to verify information, I got the same person and a different name. I was so confused. I went to a Mind, Body and Spirit conference around the time that I was doing all this and met a woman there who was a Reiki practitioner. I talked to her, asking her questions about guides. I asked why I was given the same image of my protector guide but two different names. One word was all she said “Twins”. OMG that simple! Two names for the same face…twins. Later that weekend I did a meditation for a past life regression and there they were in a past life of mine. I confirmed this later on when I met a student and healing touch practitioner who worked on my energy and said, who are the two big burly guys with you? I said my guides and she said yep and then spilled my entire past life with them. Over the past 10 years I’ve gotten to know them pretty well. I am always learning from them and cannot imagine life without them around. It took a lot of practice and time to build me being able to talk to them.

What else?

Guides will let you make mistakes and go places off your path in order to learn what it is you need to learn. We as humans have free will and they, like anything else from the spirit realms, cannot mess with that. So you may choose to do something and get the feeling it’s wrong but do it anyway, and then say why the crap didn’t the guides keep me from doing it that way? Well you made the choice and they can’t stop you because of free will. Now if you had asked for their help during the situation they would have helped you through it for your highest good and you may not have had to learn it the hard way. But in the end you learned what you needed to.

Guides are not guardian angels. Angels are sent to you or assigned to you by the Divine and have never incarnated. Guides have had at least one incarnation on this plain or others.

Crossed over loved ones can petition to be a guide but it is rare. Crossed over loved ones however do pop in and out to check on you or give you a shove in the right direction if need be. Guides are already in place when you wrote your life contract, they helped you write it and then you incarnated into this life with your guides and family members in place for this life time.
