Special Edition...Robin Renee Ray

Today I would like to honor one of the hottest, most talented up and coming authors, I have seen in a very long time... Robin Renee Ray. I have had the pleasure of working with Robin and can personally attest to how extremely hardworking, dedicated and professional she is. Now, don’t let that fool ya, Robin also likes to have fun behind the scenes, lol. She will be the first one that tries to make you smile or laugh on any given day! Whether she is telling you a story about her sweet little ‘grands’ or sending you a pic of the latest hottie she found, her one goal in life is to bring people joy.

As an author, Robin has amazing skills when it comes to taking her readers on a variety of emotions while reading a single book. She will have you laughing one minute, then cheering for the heroine, while swearing at a villain the next breath, make you grimace at the detailed macabre scene description,
and then reaching for a tissue. And that’s just the first chapter! LOL
I would recommend reading all of Robin’s books to anyone who hasn’t already. Trust me when I say if you don’t, you are truly missing out on stories that will leave a lasting impression and have you wanting more! Her kind of writing talent is a rare find and those of us that have been lucky enough to read her work have been given a real literary treat! I will be a fan forever and rank her as one of my top five favorite authors of all time!

I could go on and on about Robin and how sweet, funny and wonderful she is, but I really think you should see for yourself what exactly it is I’m talking about. So I am going to give you a glimpse into the world of Robin Renee Ray…hold on to your seats baby, cuz it’s gonna be a wild ride!

Robin Renee Ray…In her own words…
Robin Renee Ray…Bio
I’m not what you call your ‘normal’ novelist by any means of the word. I never had any dreams of becoming a writer when I was growing up, but always had a fascination with the paranormal. I began watching scary movies from the time that I can even remember watching movies, and found myself playing in cemeteries ever since I was big enough to be out at night on my own. My life story goes like this… I dropped out of school before the tenth grade got started good, married, had two little girls, losing one in her sleep when she was four months old, divorced, and all before I hit twenty. I remarried a few years later, raising my daughter and living happily with a very special person for the next twenty-three years. I now write full time and spend all the free time that I can with my two beautiful granddaughters.
I began writing four and a half years ago, six months after the birth of my first grandbaby. I was there holding my daughter's hand when that tiny little girl was born. I bent down when they laid her on her mommy’s belly and kissed her little mouth, knowing that she had just changed my life in more ways than can ever be explained in words. I took a few tablets to my stomping grounds in Burkett Texas, and began scribbling out my first novel. I had no clue how to type, spell, and had very little knowledge of proper grammar, but four months later, I had a complete novel; the beginning of a five book series, that is now one book away from being complete. Bloodbeeders: Living in Darkness. I have since learned a bit about the skills of a writer and now have more than a few books under my belt.
I think since I have become a writer that one of my main goals is to become the next female version of the late, great Alfred Hitchcock. I wrote a book of short horror stories thinking of him, because to me, there will never be anyone that thought anywhere near the way he did when it came to true horror. I just think he was a little loopy, but who am I to talk? I’m just a long haired tree hugger, who plays in haunted houses and the oldest, scariest, cemeteries that I can find…lol.

Grandma loves those Grand-baby girls of hers and it shows! Look at her modeling those pretty painted toes done by the grands!

Interview...Your's truly & Robin from 2011

Hello everyone! I’m Savannah Rayne and I have the distinct pleasure of being able to interview the very talented Robin Renee Ray! So please give her a warm welcome! (virtual applause)

Savannah: Hey Robin! How ya doing today?
Robin: Absolutely wonderful.
Savannah: I’d like to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by and chat with us.
Robin: You are most welcome…Thank you for this amazing invite.
Savannah: First I guess I’d like to ask, how long you have been writing and what prompted you to do so?
Robin: Well, I wasn’t one of those who had a dream, or wanted to become a writer. I pretty much didn’t write anything more than a postcard until a little over five years ago. I had truly become a fan of reading in my mid-thirties and some ten years later, my first Grand was born and that writing brick slammed me in the back of the head. So, one could say it was the birth of my Grands that prompted me into opening my mind..LOL
Savannah: As I mentioned earlier, you are a Multi-genre author. What genre is your favorite to write?
Robin: Without a doubt it would be Horror.
Savannah: Do you find one genre more difficult to write in than others?
Robin: You have no idea…LOL Me and romance do not get along. When I can’t take one of my contemporary projects anymore, I write a short horror read to refresh my brain. Then and only then, can I jump back into the romance. It just works for me. ;)
Savannah: Can you tell us where the idea for the Bloodbreeders series came from?
Robin: It is my very first baby, so to speak. I couldn’t type, spell…didn’t have any schooling to speak of, but I had this wild story that was stuck in my head. Bloodbreeders starts in a place called Burkett Texas in the book, that is also where I go to write in this series. It all came about while I was goofing off in the little cemetery in this one horse town, the very cemetery that I grew up playing in. And to be honest, I had this type of vampire in mind that would be different than all of the many books that I had read.
Savannah: What inspired After Hours?
Robin: Hahahaha…I have found that I am very fond of two awesome sweet people that I work with and for, and the more that I got to know them, the more the story came to life. Yes, they are sexy demons and they can morph into not so nice demonic creatures, but it does not reflect how I really feel about these two gals. They inspired me with their humor and their favorite choice of scolding tools. To me, they made the perfect characters or victims to my warped world, if you will. ;)
Savannah: If Bloodbreeders were to be made into a movie, who would you like to see play the roles of Renee and Martin?
Robin: This is truly a hard question for me. I have no clue. Most male actors that I love would be too old. *Snicker* I’m just not up on the younger stars out there. I absolutely adore Milla Jovovich, from Resident Evil, and The Fifth Element…but even she may be too old to play Renee. I would just have to leave this up to others in the event that it were to ever happen.
Savannah: I know you’re a Grandma and you spend quite a bit of time with the Grand’s. What are their names and ages?
Robin: Akasha is the oldest and the grand we named after The Queen of the Damned…LOL She will turn 6 on her next birthday. She is just like her mommy, extremely smart and she knows it. Shya, the youngest just turned 3 and she is my little handful. She will be the one that gets sent home for telling the teacher ‘NO’ too many times…LOL They are my world and my muses.
Savannah: Can you tell us what your favorite thing to do with them is?
Robin: Anything…just watching them sleep fills my soul with a joy that can’t be explained. Our favorite all time fun thing however, is playing in the mud.
Savannah: So what do the little darling’s think of Grandma’s writing?
Robin: Shya is too young to even understand right now, but the oldest loves it. She can see one of my book covers and ever time will point at my name and say, “That’s you, huh Grandma.” It makes me so proud!
Savannah: I heard through the grape vine, that you have co-authored a very special book. Can you tell us about that?
Robin: Yes, I do have a co-author and she is outstanding. Unless she is fighting with her sister then I have to send her to the corner...LOL Akasha L. McBee, my oldest grand is that co-author and creator of every creature in The Tale of Two Toodlgnomes, a children’s adventure series that will be coming very soon with Hellfire Publishing.
Savannah: What is the biggest challenge you face when writing?
Robin: I love my peeps more than words can say, but being interrupted at every turn is my biggest challenge. Had there been no spell-check, it would have been my number one. ;)
Savannah: What is the one thing you’d like to accomplish that you haven’t yet?
Robin: I have done more than I ever thought I would, so one could say that I have exceeded all and more of my accomplishments in life. Now it’s all about having fun and enjoying the Blessings that come my way.
Savannah: Would you share with us one secret about yourself that most people don’t know?
Robin: I’m a pretty open book, but I don’t think that the world knows that I can laugh myself sick through a really scary movie. Where most are screaming or covering their face…I am cracking up!!!
Savannah: Is there any advice you’d like to give to the Grandma’s out there, who might be struggling with starting the game later in life, as far as writing or getting published?
Robin: Yes, I would say ‘Go For It’ and don’t let age or others stand in your way. Many things come and go with age, but our ability to create with our minds is endless…Like I said, I didn’t even pick up my first full length novel until my mid-thirties and then waited another ten years to give writing a chance. I know many say, ‘if I can do it anyone can’…well, I mean it. If a drop-out from the 70’s, a Dyslexic, and a woman who began later in life can do this…believe me when I say…You can too!
Savannah: And one last thing Robin, I’m just dying to know, when was the last time you cut your hair? LOL My goodness it’s so long and beautiful!
Robin: I cut about 9 inches three years ago when it got sucked up into the vaccum..LOL other than that, it’s been about 15 years. My peeps just call me Cousin Its Cousin. ;)
Savannah: Well folks. I think it’s time to let Robin get back to her day. Thank you again Robin for sharing with us a little bit about yourself and your writing. But before you go, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind doing a little Snoopy Dancing for us?!!

Savannah: OMG! Robin that was great! Thanks for making my day!
Robin: You owe me BIG TIME Savannah! LOL
Savannah: LOL it's worth it! It has been a real pleasure chattin’ with you.

In October 2011 Robin was invited to attend Anne Rice's Vampire Ball in New Orleans!

And here's 12 things I bet you didn't know about Robin...

1. I am ¼ black and proud of it…yeah, I know, I don’t look it and that stinks. ;)

2. I hate green peas and started calling them ‘Frog Balls’ when I was three years old and still do. *Yuck* As a child we did a lot of frog giggin and then we fried the legs. Being raised with loads of brothers, it wasn’t hard coming up with a nick-name for peas. ;)

3. I only paint my pinky nail and I only use black nail polish…unless my grands get a hold of me, then I do get several colors on my toe nails.

4. Shhh…I never wear my wedding ring. ;)

5. Crowds make me want to crawl under a rock…

6. I have never been to a concert, yet I have had tickets to see Kiss, Iron Madden, Queen and more…I know, what’s wrong with me..LOL

7. I LOVE Michael Jackson and get down in the kitchen where I can do the moon walk.

8. I have only had one earring in my left ear for the last 35 years….not the same earring, that’s just nasty, but the right remains empty. ;)

9. I hate feet with a passion and mine above all else..LOL Feet are up there with peas on the gross things on my list. *Shiver*

10. I don’t hang with anyone other than my grands from the outside world…but I will meet up with my best friend in Texas at least once a year and chill for a week, and I will go visit my cousin and stay with my bro every so often…that’s about it. Boring, huh..LOL

11. I don’t wear shorts in public…so I don’t shave my legs very often. *Blush* Yep, I am hairy all over, not just my overly long hair. I can’t believe I just told the world that.

12. I love animals with a passion but I did have this car when I was still young that just loved killing cats??? It was even called the Cat Killer. I never drove it because I didn’t want to make a pancake out of a kitty. One night, I had no choice. I didn’t get three blocks when a cat ran out, and right under my car and POW. Poor thing! So, I have murdered an innocent creature.
